Ground Rules
Black History Association (Gravesham and Kent)
Ground Rules
-
Members are expected to attend all meetings. If a member has to be absent, they will send apologies to the General Secretary or indicate their absence on the WhatsApp forum.
-
Members should be punctual and arrive at meetings on time so that the Association business can be concluded within the room booking time.
-
The agenda for meetings will be provided in advance. Every member should endeavour to engage in the discussions and decision-making processes. On occasions, papers will also be sent in advance of meetings and members are expected to read them, think about their contents and come to meetings prepared to discuss and vote on the issues, where necessary.
-
Each member will be given an equal opportunity to participate in meetings or run for office. To prevent the same (or few) members dominating meeting discussions, members wishing to speak should indicate to the Chair, and then wait to be called upon to speak. Members should stick to the subject matter in hand and not stray from the point at hand.
-
Where a majority decision has been made, every member will accept it as the way forward.
-
Members should be aware that confidential or sensitive information may, from time to time, be shared in Association meetings or WhatsApp forum and members are expected not to share such information outside of the Association.
-
Members will work considerately and respectfully with each other – respecting individual views, different roles and boundaries, and avoid giving offence.
-
Members should act in the best interests of the Association and avoid bringing it into disrepute.
-
Any breach of reasonable behaviour or these ground rules may result in a vote of no confidence being called against the uncooperative member.
